Acne & Acne Scars

Stop new breakouts. Repair the scars left behind. A staged plan, not a single facial.

Acne is rarely 'just a teen thing' — adult hormonal acne, jawline cysts, and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation are some of our most common consultations. RenovaAura treats both the active acne (medical management + dermatology-grade topicals) and the scarring it leaves behind in a staged plan.

What you might notice

Symptoms

  • Painful cystic acne along the jawline and chin
  • Inflammatory whiteheads, blackheads, or pustules
  • Dark marks (post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation) lingering after spots heal
  • Rolling, ice-pick or boxcar scars from past acne
  • Acne that flares with periods, stress, or specific foods
What's actually happening

Common causes

  • Hormonal imbalance (especially androgens in women)
  • Excess sebum production
  • P. acnes bacteria colonising blocked follicles
  • Diet triggers — high glycemic index foods, dairy in some patients
  • Over-cleansing or wrong skincare products disrupting the barrier
How RenovaAura treats this

Our approach.

  1. 1Identify your acne type and any cause before any treatment starts
  2. 2Active acne first: medical management, topicals, and in-clinic peels to break the cycle
  3. 3Maintenance plan to prevent rebound when active treatment ends
  4. 4Once active acne is controlled, address scarring with treatments as needed
  5. 5Honest timeline — meaningful results take months, not weeks
Patient questions

What people usually ask.

Post acne Scarring occurs as a result of damage to the skin during the healing of active acne. Collagen remodelling occurs at the level of deeper layers of skin (dermis) leading to formation of fibrous bands and pulling of skin inwards.
There are two basic types of scar depending on whether there is a loss or gain of collagen • Depressed/pitted scars (atrophic scars) • Raised scars (hypertrophic scars). Atrophic scars are further divided into 3 types- • Icepick scars • Boxcar scars • Rolling scars.
It occurs in the conditions leading to extensive stretching of the skin over a short period of time which occurs during sudden weight gain/ height gain, pubertal growth spur etc. (pregnancy induced striae over abdomen, puberty induced striae over breasts)
We offer: Case specific specialized treatment for scar reduction (Scar reduction therapy) which includes- • Expert medical advice by dermatologist • Chemical peeling (Grade 1/ hyperpigmented scars) • Fractional CO2 laser therapy • Microneedling • Erbium laser • Platelet Rich plasma therapy/GFC • Scar excision (Combination of any of these according to grade/type of acne and patient specifications)
It is the treatment leading to exfoliation of superficial layers of skin. It decreases the activity of melanin producing cells in the layers of skin leading to lightened skin tone and fading of post acne hyperpigmented/ blackish spots over the skin. It is most effective in grade-1 acne scars.
Micro needling is technique that involves using a sterile microneedling pen comprised of a series of fine, sharp needles to puncture the skin. At first, a numbing gel is applied, left for 40 minutes. The skin needling procedure is achieved by using the device on the areas affected by acne scars, in various directions. The needles penetrate about 0.5 to 2 mm into the dermis. It works by stimulating collagen production in dermal layer of skin.
Fractional CO2 laser is a resurfacing laser. It leads to thermal injury over the affected areas which induces collagen production and breaking of fibrotic bands and during healing over next few days, skin regenerates better and reduction in scars and stretch marks is seen.
PRP stands for platelet rich plasma therapy.
PRP/GFC rejuvenates the skin. It provides much needed growth factors to the underlying tissues in the skin. It helps in remodelling of old scars and stretch marks and provides facial glow.
Anyone having post acne scarring or stretch marks can undergo scar reduction therapy.
Examination of the affected area will be done by the doctor. Doctor will ask all relevant questions required before suggesting you best procedure or combination of procedures according to your skin type/history/previous treatment/type of scars/severity of scars.
Mild redness can occur over the treated area which will subside over next few hours. Pain can occur over the treated area for next 1-2 days, for which doctor may prescribe you mild painkiller. Use strict sun protection with a sunscreen of SPF not less than 30 (even when indoors) for next 2-3 weeks and reapply after every 4 hours. Do not undergo any facial/saloon procedure over the affected area for next 7-10 days Mild brownish-black scab can form over the treated area over next 24 hours. Do not try to remove it or pluck it out. It will shed off by itself in over 1-2 week’s time.
Your doctor will tell you the duration between each session. Ideally each session will be spaced at 3-6 weeks interval.
Your doctor will intimate you regarding the number of sittings of a particular treatment you will be requiring after analysing your affected area and extent of involvement. Usually, 4-6 sessions are required for optimized results.
Yes, Local anesthesia is required.
You will start to notice change in the depth and appearance of scars/ stretch marks from 3-4 weeks time. Over successive sessions, scars will become more superficial and in level with the skin with change in the texture over the scarred area. Optimal effect will be seen in 4-6 weeks after your last session.
Scar reduction therapy has permanent results, unless you develop new acne scars or stretch marks. The results over the previously treated areas will last forever.
Yes, you will be provided medicine post procedure.
